The Soldiers’ Charity Photo Competition

Now the 2015 calendar for The Soldiers’ Charity has sold out, the search is on for the next set of pictures for the 2016 calendar. Soldiers, veterans, cadets and their families are all invited to submit their entries, the first time official Army photography hasn’t been used.Covering eight categories — Training, Veterans, Reserves, Serving, Families, Cadets, Sport and World War One/Commemoration — the competition is open to any amateur photographer with a connection to the Army. The winners will not only feature in the 2016 calendar but also receive a range of photography prizes.

Some of the prizes on offer:

1) A year’s free subscription to the Royal Photography Society.

2) Overall Winner Category: Wex Photographic is proud to support amateur photographers with any link to the British Army. As part of their ongoing commitment to promoting creativity and photography as a powerful communication media,  Wex Photographic said: ‘We are delighted to sponsor The Soldiers’ Charity Photo Competition. Photography is our passion and this prize is provided by Wex Photographic and Canon UK. We will provide a Canon DSLR plus lens (of our choice) for the overall winners and two Canon professional compacts for two other category winners.’ (All prizes will be supplied via WEX Photographic and will be picked by them. Please note they cannot be exchanged for other goods or vouchers.)

3) A day out with an Army Photographer, learning how they do their job, getting such amazing shots of Army personnel performing their roles worldwide (Note: This particular prize is only available to current serving soldiers due to MOD restrictions)

The winning entries will be chosen by a panel of leading figures and celebrities, including actress Jenny Agutter, Royal photographer Arthur Edwards, Chief Executive of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity Major General (Ret’d) Martin Rutledge CB OBE, and Chief of The General Staff Lieutenant General Nick Carter KCB, CBE, DSO.

The competition will close on 30th April 2015.
