The Simplicity of Truth at FACT
Exhibition Opening: Mark Storor’s
The Simplicity of Truth
Join us to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition on
Thursday 12 May, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
What does it mean to be a man today? When facing the established legacy of traditional masculinity, how do we find a space to carve out the new forms of the men we want to be?
Artist Mark Storor has created an intimate reimagining of masculinity in his new pop-up exhibition The Simplicity of Truth, shown in the FACT Connects Space from 12 May – 12 June. Located in the foyer at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), the exhibition combines still and moving images with live performance, and includes both newly produced elements and previously unseen material from Storor’s celebrated 2015 work The Barometer of My Heart.
The Simplicity of Truth particularly celebrates the invaluable contribution of the men from FACT’s Veterans in Practice programme and EFC Community Foundation who collaborated with Storor in the development of the work, and also offers a new opportunity to re-engage with the material, involve more men from Liverpool in the work, and to continue the dialogue begun.
Throughout the exhibition, a live performance element will unfold within the space, developed and enacted by local men through a series of workshops led by former participants, and assisted by the artist.
For more information on attending these workshops please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The Simplicity of Truth will be showing at FACT until 12 June, 11am – 6pm daily, and admission is FREE
