So, since starting, we’ve attended and presented what we’ve done and what’s been learned at numerous events and conferences, had a little press coverage and even picked up a few awards to boot! Take a look at what we’ve been up to (outside creating great art!) so far….


  • Attended symposium on conflict and culture @ Central St Martins
  • Screening of FF Gaiden: Control in HMP Liverpool and HMP Altcourse
  • Lecture on ViP programme and engagement methodologies at Engage Extend Leadership course cohort, Tetley, Leeds
  • Presented alongside Krzysztof Wodiczko to Fine Art students at Hope University
  • Presentation on VIP programme and engagement methodologies at Social Intentions conference, CCA Glasgow
  • Public screening of FF Gaiden: Control and artist talk
  • Presented ViP programme to FACT volunteers
  • Presented ViP at HMP Liverpool Veterans Forum
  • Presented at Criminology, criminal justice and ex-military communities: the way ahead? University of Liverpool / Liverpool John Moores University
  • Presented VIP and screened FF Gaiden: Control at the Remember Veterans launch with West Mercia Police
  • Presented at LJMU Spotlight Awards- (winning runner up prize)
  • VIP presentation for Trauma, Representation and the works of Krzysztof Wodiczko: A Discussion Event as part of Liverpool Biennial public programme
  • Sharing FF Gaiden: Control and Reimagining Conflict research group at American Society of Criminology Conference, New Orleans
  • The Guardian article on ViP and FF Gaiden: Control project
  • Support Award from Liverpool Veteran’s HQ and Liverpool City Council


  • Presented at British Psychological Society annual conference
  • Being a Veteran in the Criminal Justice System, conference produced in collaboration with NoOffence
  • Presentation to FACT staff on ViP methodologies and learning
  • Attended Art Transforming Lives: A practical investigation by Crisis to discuss homeless veterans and veterans within the CJS
  • Presenting as part of Critical Thinking: Art in Prisons course at FACT
  • Received Special Commendation for Excellent Contributions to Arts and Health Practice by the Royal Society for Public Health in their Arts and Health Awards 2015.
  • Presented and spoke at House of Commons as part of an All Party Parliamentary group on ‘Arts, Health and Wellbeing’, specifically around art and post-traumatic stress to inform policy recommendations for an Arts, Health and Wellbeing Inquiry.
  • Presented alongside David Blandy and Larry Achiampong to Fine Art students at Hope University
  • Showcasing of Tagging Communities project, plus exhibition and community testing events
  • BBC Radio Merseyside interview with ViP
  • Presented ViP programme to FACT volunteers


  • Presented ViP projects and paper at the Arts, Peace and Conflict conference produced by the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies at Liverpool Hope University to an audience of over 50 international academics and practitioners
  • Attended Curiosity and Well Being Research Workshop at the University of Liverpool to present the project and its wellbeing outcomes
  • Attended and contributed to the Making it Happen Group for Veterans meetings which oversee the delivery of the Armed Forces Community Covenant in Liverpool
  • Attended Armed Forces Day events to promote ViP programme
  • Presented ViP programme as part of World Mental Health day official showcase
  • Included as a case study in Art Council England report How arts and culture are important to every aspect of our lives
  • 4 page story in Liverpool Echo (print and online) on ViP programme and launch
